We spent 24 nights in National Parks, 31 in caravan parks, 61 at free camping locations and 61 at showgrounds / low-cost camping areas.

Of interest for us, the caravan park time-lines were 9 nights at Canberra visiting family, 7 nights at Port Elliot at a caravan club rally and the rest comprised of low cost, non-staffed caravan parks.

It seemed our new solar powered, self-sufficient caravan has eliminated the need for a mains power boost, thus negating the need for an expensive caravan park stay.

Below is a brief overview of our 2025 travels, primarily for our reference, though we are happy to share our life’s perspective thoughts at that point in time.

2025 was a year where we were in need to be present, periodically at our home base for medical and family needs. There were several boosts to our well-being, each time we escaped on a caravan outing.

Nearby our home base, from about a 3-hour drive, (Yorke Peninsula) or about an 8-hour drive, (Eyre Peninsula) we enjoyed some of our local highlights.

When the winter conditions prevailed, we headed inland. We enjoyed the variety of scenery provided by the Oodnadatta Track.

The Australian capital, Canberra, can be a cold location, as we were reminded. At least we obtained compensation with the rewards of family time.

We managed a couple of visits to the Pilliga Hot Artesian Pool. It is a location where we become disappointed/despondent when it’s time to leave.

Back at our home base after a year of travel time there is a lot of work. Mary clears the inside of the caravan with lots of washing and cleaning requirements. Steve attends to all the maintenance requirements.

Nearing the end of 2025, we were on track with the completion of annual caravan maintenance requirements, the tow tug maintenance issues/requirements were in the system for conclusion and our personal related hic-ups were on the mend with only minor hindrances.

There was lots of discussion on ideas for 2026 activities.
