June 2016 - 02/6/16
It felt quite arduous leaving El Questro. We could have
easily postponed departure, staying a while longer; it was such a delightful
place. But it was time to move and we made our way to Wyndham the most northern
town in Western Australia.

We enjoyed the views from the Five Rivers Lookout, watching
a magnificent sunset while enjoying a few nibbles and drinks with Bruce &
Chris. It was another one of those superb evenings.

A drive to view the Prison Boab Tree and nearby Aboriginal
cave paintings was enjoyable.

Brolgas |
Most satisfying was spending time at Marlgu Billabong
perched in a bird hide over a large billabong. There was so much bird life,
even in the middle of the day. It was just so inspiring. We saw a White
Breasted Sea Eagle, Brolgas, Whistling Kites and about a dozen plus other bird
varieties.
Our highlight at the billabong was when we heard a large
splash and we saw a crocodile coming out of the water and latch onto a bird,
dragging it down under the surface. We hadn’t sighted any crocodiles in the 45
minutes we had been watching and suddenly we saw another two crocodiles heading
towards the crocodile with the bird.
It was exhilarating and scary at the same time. About half
an hour later the crocodile surfaced with the bird still in its jaws and we
watched in awe as it chomped on the bird.
